Yr 10 immersive learning in Brain week activities at UNSW

Yr 10 students experienced the wonders of science first hand at the University of NSW with brain biology activities ranging from experiencing what spinning G forces can do to your balance, recognising how the brain can be tricked with the simple addition of coloured glasses and looking at the effects of poor diet on brain development in foetuses.

The favourite of the day was learning how paraplegics can drive their chairs without use of anything but their mind. Students experienced what it would be like to "really use their brains" and using EMOTV or electrical impulses they controlled the movement of images on a screen and played games without any controls. The other favourite was the reaction time tests with many surprised by the speed or lack of their reactions.
