Congratulations to the Stage 3 students who participated in the Live Outside the Box initiative last term. This program complemented the PDHPE unit 'Considered Choices.' Students challenged themselves to turn off the TV and computer games, to be physically active every day and to make healthy food choices. At the completion of the challenge, students received either a Bronze, Silver or Gold certificate based on the number of points earned. Mrs Cathy Last
Here are some quotes from some of the students who participated.
"I enjoyed completing this challenge and I surprised myself with the number of points I achieved. I think our school should do this program every year." Brooke 6T
"After doing Live Outside the Box I felt better because I had eaten more vegetables and I hadn't eaten as much unhealthy foods. I hardly watched any TV and was going to outside to exercise." Layni 5S
"I found that I controlled what I ate and how much fitness I did each day. I impressed myself with my result and I really cut down on my sometimes food." Lavanya 6M
By completing Live Outside the Box I was drinking a lot more water each day. I think this program is a good way to teach kids to eat healthy and to have the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables." Sam 6T
"I am an active person so it was easy for me to gain points for physical activity but I did change by limiting my amount of screen time. After finishing the challenge I have thought more about the time I spend watching TV and on the computer." Jordan 5B
"I now drink a lot more water than I used to. I have cut down on the amount of soft drink I have and I feel more healthy. I now limit my screen time to an hour each day." Lachlan 5S
"I feel like I'm eating more vegetables after doing the Live Outside the Box challenge. I've also cut down on my sometimes food and even though I'm missing it a lot, I feel better." Rebecca 6M
"Doing Live Outside the Box I ate more fruit and veges than I usually do and my eating has changed a little bit. I went outside more and I'm still doing that. This challenge is a good way to change our unhealthy habits." Luke 5S
